The newly discovered principle of gravitational redshift and blueshift

Mechanism-Revealed Physics (22/40) ----- by Bingcheng Zhao
Also Mechanism-Revealed Gravitational Theory (3/7)

The principle of gravitational redshift and blueshift (GRB) embedded in Mechanism-Revealed Gravitational Theory (MRGT) is: because the scales of length (space) and time increase radially outward (i.e., decrease radially inward) in the gravitational field generated by a rationally massive astronomical object such as Earth or Sun, a light that travels away the astronomical object is experiencing redshift, whereas a light that travels toward the astronomical object is experiencing blueshift. The principle of GRB reveals the mechanism of gravitational redshift as that: when a light travels away a gravitational field, the wavelength of the light is continuously becoming longer and longer or the frequency of the light is continuously becoming lower and lower, because the scales of length and time continuously increase along the direction in which the light travels. Therefore, the essence of gravitational redshift is that a light travels along a direction in which the scales of length and time increase due to the existence of gravitational field (P. 459 ~ 470, reference #1). [*Note, MRGT = Mechanism-Revealed Gravitational Theory (P. 445 ~ 514, Ch.4B, reference #1)].

The principle of GRB also reveals the mechanism of gravitational blueshift as that: when a light travels toward a gravitational field, the wavelength of the light is continuously becoming shorter and shorter or the frequency of the light is continuously becoming higher and higher, because the scales of length and time continuously decrease along the direction in which the light travels. Therefore, the essence of gravitational blueshift is that a light travels along a direction in which the scales of length and time decrease due to the existence of gravitational field (P. 459 ~ 470, reference #1).

The principle of GRB has been verified by citing two highly authoritative experimental or observational results: (i) the value calculated with the principle of GRB is 2.442 x 10^(-15) vs. the widely accepted 2.455 x 10^(-15) in Harvard Tower Experiment for the gravitational redshift on the surface of Earth (P. 464 ~ 468, reference #1). (ii) The value calculated with the principle of GRB is 1.225 x 10^(-6) vs. the widely accepted 1.23 x 10^(-6) in the measurement of the gravitational redshift of Sun by a team at Princeton University in early 1960s (P. 468 ~ 470, reference #1).

The key to understanding of the principle of GRB: (i) due to its mechanism-revealed nature, the principle of GRB in MRGT is mechanistically thus essentially different from that in Einstein’s general relativity that is postulate-based feature. (ii) As long as you have known the greatest equation in the history of science, which is Einstein’s famous mass-energy equation (E = mc^2 or E0 = mc^2), you will easily understand the principle of GRB, because the law of object’s mass doing work (P. 93 ~ 109, Ch.1A, reference #1), which lays the foundation of the principle of GRB, also reveals the mechanism behind the greatest equation (P. 114 ~ 118, Ch.1B, reference #1).
